Music by Rebekka Fisher Music with
Attitude |
Rebekka Fisher started writing music at age 9 and was always
considered quiet until she performed on stage, thats where she found her
language to communicate. Born in Minnesota to a cartoonist family,
Rebekkas lyrics include both a reflective and sarcastic side to the
groove-jazz music. Her influences include Carol King, Parliament Funkadelics,
Gladys Knight, Beck and Bjork.
After receiving a degree in music composition, Fisher went out to
start her own production company recording, promoting and distributing 3
CDs, and books her band in the Central Minnesota area. She has been
nominated for keyboardist of the Year by the Minnesota Music Academy and has
airplay on the Twin Cities radio stations including Cities 97, KQRS, Zone 105,
Radio K, KFAI, KUMD (Duluth) and Net Radio. The Rebekka Fisher Band has warmed
up Johnny Lang, Missing Persons and AJ Croche and has also performed at such
music venues as The Fine Line, Cedarfest, Taste of Minnesota, Cabooze, Famous
Daves, and The Quest.
Fisher lays down a cool blend of funky riffs, jazz-infused
vocals and lyrics that reflect both an emotional vulnerability and a tough
spirit thats unlikely to be broken. Overall, a winning, not to mention
infectious, combination. With the help of Matt Fink (a.k.a. Dr. Fink of
Princes Revolution) fishers disc (Observare) stands out on the
local music scene. Pulse Magazine
Rebekka Fishers delightful and diverse vocal
abilities, backed by a tight and talented band, add heat to the second release
from this St Paul, MN pop/funk/dance outfit. While the come-in cut Shades of
Green, is a catchy and enjoyable listen, Down by the River, is a shining audio
moment for both the band, as well as this skillful singer. Throughout this CD,
each song has an individual flavor, yet the overall feel remains consista\ent.
Song after song, the Rebekka Fisher Band offers a wealth of talent and style.
Observare is top-notch! ORB Confidential, the Musicians Trade
